Opened by Murray Hill Police Sergeant Abe “Sarge” Katz in 1964, this perennially popular 24-hour deli has been satiating customers for decades. The menu includes over-stuffed corned beef sandwiches, giant flame-broiled burgers, homemade matzo ball soup, and mouth-watering cheese blintzes.
Sink your teeth into Sarge’s warm and juicy pastrami sandwich and you’ll probably agree with Sarge’s ardent fans that this is one of the best Jewish delis in New York. The secret? Sarge’s cures its own meats with special spice rubs, using recipes handed down over three generations. Sarge’s cheesecake is made the old-fashioned way; with a crunchy graham cracker crust, vanilla flavor, and with creamy texture—it’s impossible to resist. So give in to your cravings and order a slice. Or two.
Souper Soup—With Kreplach, a Matzo ball and noodles
Potato Pancake—Served with applesauce
Sarge’s Favorite—Hot brisket of beef on a potato pancake with gravy and applesauce
Corned Beef Hash—Our finest corned beef blended and grilled, served with three eggs
Hot Pastrami Sandwich
Late night random first time order of matzah eggs and cheese blintzes were so good. Very high quality and large portion. Pleasantly surprised! I would definitely reorder this and delivery guy was nice.

After an hour and a half, I called to find out where our food was. She said it was already out for delivery and would be here within 5 minutes. Half an hour later, it showed up - ice cold.
The delivery was bad, but the food was worse. Greasy, oily sandwich with cold congealed cheese on top. Slimy, cold fries. Watery, powdered mashed potatoes. Revolting macaroni and cheese - like watered-down Velveeta and mayonnaise on overcooked noodles.
It was already too late at night to order something else, so we reheated and choked down a few bites. We would have been better off going hungry - now we're both nursing aching, nauseated stomachs.
Tl;dr: Never again. Super late delivery, gross food, got sick.

SARGE'S IS BACK ....and better than ever.
Boy did we miss you.
Posted 2 years ago by WILLIAM C.
Ordered the corned beef, and it was all shredded pieces instead of your traditional thin slices--very underwhelming . Corn muffins were super starchy. I also ordered a cream cheese bagel.... hard to screw that up, right? Guess again. How did this place get 4 stars??
Posted 2 years ago by John C.
They charged me extra for avocado (which wasn't an option I could pick to be charged for), then the delivery guy waited downstairs for me to pay in cash instead of charging my account, then he left because I couldn't get there in time, then he came back with the food. The food was mediocre at best and then I had stomach cramps and related problems the next day (i.e. the food was likely tampered with). This place is awful.

Sarge's has DEFINITELY improved since they closed for fire and reopened. Sarges is hands down the best Lean Corned Beef and Pastrami in NY. I was afraid it was a one time thing when I received the Pastrami with barely any fat at all. I've ordered four more times and each time I get fabulous meat!! Congrats Sarge's! You are now #1 Deli in NY in my estimation!! Burgers are fabulous and big also!!

Great sandwiches - a little on the pricey side but portions are very generous

Best place / only place to get solid Pastrami and Corned Beef delivered. A constant go to for us. Delivery is almost always faster than the minimum speed if your order in the AM.

Very delicious & HUGE deli sandwiches. A little pricey, but worth it.

So happy one of my long-time favorite restaurants is open again! Anything I've ever ordered is amazing and always consistent. Even though they are across town (and uptown), food comes pretty quickly.

Almost always great delivery option. I order from Sarges often. Nice burgers and sandwiches. Always a nice portion and delivery is fast.

Awful. Do not order from this restaurant. Took almost hours for the delivery to show up when the estimated time was on hour. Restaurant did not care.

So I got my delivery. I asked for rye bread with pastrami and corned beef platter. Not only did I not get any bread but no mustard either. I called and spoke to Sean. He said they put six slices of rye in the bag along with the condiments. Come on Andrew! Time to order from Second Ave. Deli. With a $1.50 delivery fee the least you can do is get it right. At this point, by the time I get the bread you can have your order back!

Kreplach soup & chopped liver have seen me through many colds.
Appreciates that seamless offers menu options (chopped liver by 1/4 lb) & lower minimum delivery amount than those offered on delivery.com.

Best kosher style food in Midtown. Recommend the Souper Soup (especially if you're under the weather),
Posted 2 years ago by Richelle S.
-stuffed french toast had jam in it and not real fruit. it was gross
-the eggs with salmon and tomatoes all came slobbered all over each other , not seperated. who wants hot tomatoes?

Chicken in a pot is the BEST delivery chicken soup in the neighborhood. Literally taste like my mother's (excellent) chicken soup. Huge amount of soup, maybe 2qts worth? Generous amount of chicken, an enormous, well-textured matzo ball, carrots that aren't mush, and great broth. They're really good about accommodating side instructions (I ask for no green peas in the soup), soup is well packed, delivery is fast, and no drama. Chicken pot pie is also wonderful and tastes wonderfully homemade. I did not love their burger, but it certainly wasn't the worst I've had in the neighborhood. This is overall a fantastic, reliable place, that is my top choice for chicken soup.
Delicious Pastrami over eggs! 10/10

The best I've had so far from Seamless in my area (Union Square-ish).
Fries arrived a bit soggy...but were still pretty good somehow. Everything else was superb, top-notch delicatessen food.

Used to love Sarge's, and was very happy to see them re-open, but $35 minimum delivery AND an additional delivery FEE? Unacceptable. Sorry, Sarge's, not good enough.

I love Sarge, they're the saviors for my past-midnight munchies. However their delivery time is quite slow and my sandwich usually was already cold when it gets to me. It was still good though. Love their strawberry cheesecake. Yum.

order has taken 2+hours to arrive and i called twice and was left on hold.
Posted 4 years ago by Max M.
Based on the reviews here, I was reluctant to order from Sarge's. Well, I ordered at 4:15 PM on a weekday, I'm 30 blocks away, and my food arrived in 22 minutes! Also, the delivery guy wasn't rude and he came to my door.
Posted 4 years ago by Lewis G.
If you’re hungry or need a quick meal, don’t order from Sarge’s. I waited two hours for my food yesterday evening. Every time that I called, the person on the other end of the phone was could care less that my food hadn't arrived. That’s horrible customer service. After the food finally arrived, my "hot" $17 sandwich had obviously cooled off quite a bit. I didn't accept the food and asked for a refund, which they said that they would process. As of this afternoon, no refund has been processed. It's a shame, I was really looking forward to trying their food. I won’t be able to now, because I'll never order from them again.
Posted 4 years ago by August I.
matzoh ball soup was great (4 stars), but the bagel with lox was inedible. the lox was so dried out that i had to throw the $17 bagel away - a complete waste!
Posted 4 years ago by Eva K.
This may have been the WORST meal I have ever attempted to eat! The french fries were over cooked and VERY greasy! The soup was vile and the BLT had FATTY raw bacon on it. Buyers beware!
Posted 4 years ago by Jasen K.
The food took an over hour to get to me and the delivery man was so rude. He called to ask me to meet him somewhere so he wouldn't have to walk the entire way to my building and floor (he said he had to park far away) and when I said no he hung up on me. I'm at work. I can't leave. That's why I ordered DELIVERY. I will never order again and tell everyone what a disappointment and failure this place is.

Two Hours Late. An hour over the delivery time, live 4 blocks away...and I'm still waiting. Don't order delivery from here.

I have never had more disgusting food in my life. I was so disappointed after being so hungry & excited. I found a weird hair or fiber in my chicken & in the cake there was something too. Never again!
Posted 4 years ago by Lorelle R.
the food is great but listen to the other reviews about the delivery time always being at least 1.5-2hours it is so abusive. also, it is extremelyyyyy expensive for what you get and how long you have to wait
Posted 4 years ago by Gina N.
Food is great. Good old fashioned NYC Jewish Deli food. I love their french onion soup. However, too expensive, and they take forever to deliver. Expect at least 90 minutes.
Posted 4 years ago by Arielle R.
It was ok. Even though the order confirmation said 50 - 65 minutes it definitely took longer than that. It was 90 minutes for delivery.
Both items I ordered were just below average. Even with the 20% it wasn't worth it.

Would be a three star review, had it not taken 80 minutes and 4 calls to get the delivery.By then, shake was not thick anymore and pancakes soggy from condensation in the plastic container.
Posted 4 years ago by Manuel C.
Delivery time shouldnt even be listed. Do not order if you need to eat and run. It is consistently nearly 2 hours. That is insane. What am I supposed to do, order and then watch a movie? Food wasnt bad but your so hungry by the time he shows you wouldnt care either way
Posted 4 years ago by Anthony C.
Crappy delivery service, was taking over 1.5 hrs to arrive until I finally called to cancel...the place is pretty close to where I live, pretty ridiculous.
Posted 4 years ago by Tali B.
Hot food was cold; cold items were room temperature. Part of the order was missing. Brisket was fatty & flavorless. Fries overdone but cold. Good corned beef.
Posted 4 years ago by Georgina R.
waited forever for food and then it showed up and was COLD. Prices are expensive for what you get.
Posted 4 years ago by Karen K.
Disgusting. Food was ice cold when it arrived (75 minutes after ordering) & sitting in a pile of grease. Tried microwaving it & choking it down, but I couldn't. The few bites I ate are sitting heavy in my stomach. STAY AWAY!! I am easy to please, but this was ridiculous. Would give zero stars if I could-- literally nothing was edible.
Posted 4 years ago by Kylie L.
Disgusting food. It was cold and burried under a layer of fat. It took 1 hour and 45 minutes for us to get our breakfast and Sarge's has no idea what customer service means. WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE EVER! Don't order from here.

The Barbecued Spareribs and Pastrami, Tongue & Swiss Sandwich we ordered are good (the fries comes with the ribs are not) but not worth the 90 minutes delivery wait. Phoned them twice and each time the not so friendly "10 more minutes" respond is off putting.
Posted 4 years ago by chris t.
Love this place. Once a week i get the combo sandwhich on a roll. Pastrami/corned beef? Kinda pricey but consistently good
Posted 4 years ago by Nahom D.
Do Not order if you are not within a mile radius of their shop (3rd Ave between 36th and 37th). Average delivery times - 1.5 to 2hrs. Not just once but I tried on many different occasions. Worse still, they do not have any tracking system of their delivery person. And to top that up, they only have one driver so they can't even dispatch another order to make up for it. You will be asked to 'wait' even if it has been 2 hrs since your placed your order.
Horrible experience. Cold food, bad service, horrendous delivery times.

Very rude service. I had to call 2 hours after I placed the order, I spoke to a rude employee who told me my food had been delivered to my "doorman", I was working at a hospital with security officers and no doorman. No food arrived, no phone call from a delivery person, and the employee at Sarge's told me to take it up with Seamless if I want a refund.

Would give zero stars if I could. Delivery took over 2 hours! Food was cold and gross. Sour cream was liquid like milk. Restaurant was rude and did not care to do anything about the issue. Seamless had to give me a refund.
Posted 5 years ago by Ross N.
Sarges, oh sarges how I love you and your carrot cake. Their sandwich selection is not competition for carnegie, but the potato pancakes & carrot cake are A+. I once ordered carrot cake 10 times in one day from there..it was the best and worst day of my life
Posted 5 years ago by sophia h.
I ordered a coffee, a slice of pie and an eclair. Two hours and 4 bizarre phone calls later (all made by me -- no followup or help from them whatsoever), nothing had arrived. So I guess I can't really rate the food, but if they take your money and never deliver, I figure it can't get much worse.

Wow, excellent pastrami sandwich and fries.. plenty of meat (3") and full of flavor. As close to Katz's as you can get on UES!
Posted 5 years ago by Aaron L.
Delivery was fast considering we are on the Upper West Side. The Roast Beef was great and it is quite a substantial sandwich. The coleslaw was not good; runny and virtually no taste.

Ahhh, Sarge's. It's a love-hate relationship with you. I've tried to tell myself not to order you when I stumble home drunk but I always find myself opening my browser and clicking to you. You never fail to deliver at any hour and the food is always great.
All the sandwiches are awesome...the pastrami is ridiculously good. I have an unhealthy love for buffalo chicken wings and have probably ordered it over 10x. For some reason, they make it better then most places I've had them in NYC (as good as Wogie's which some consider one of the best). I got the whole chicken soup once when I was sick and it was really really good. It's really a whole chicken cooked with carrots, celery, noodles and a giant matzo ball. Only lacks a star because my friends ordered once from my buffalo wing reco and got food poisoning. You win some, you lose some.

The food probably would have been okay. However, since it took them THREE HOURS to deliver it, it was lukewarm, soggy, and congealed by the time it arrived. Not worth it.

Pastrami Sandwich was good. But whatever you do, do not order the borscht. Borscht is not supposed to be sweet and is supposed to have substance to it with cabbage and chunks of meat. We ordered both the regular borscht and the cold borscht. The regular was colder than the cold borscht. Really disappointed and slightly insulted that a Russian iconic food is being trampled on by something that looks and tastes like cranberry juice and has a similar consistency. Lay off the sugar.

7:50 order arrived at 9:40.
Posted 5 years ago by Russell S.
The food here is incredibly reliable. Despite being a bit pricey for a deli, the sandwiches here are very tasty, yet smaller than those at 2nd Ave Deli. Mozzarella sticks and soups are also quite good, as are the knishes!
My only complaint is that delivery takes FOREVER. Standard delivery time is about an hour from when you place the order (but at least they're upfront about it).

i can't believe they delivered a sandwich to financial district. look about an hour which was expected since they are far away. i ordered cornbeef pastrami and it was good. lots of meat. pickle tasted like mcdonalds. after having pastrami from David's brisket house in BedStuy, my pastrami expectations have changed. this place does have good pastrami but it was cut really thin and David's cut's are thicker. tip the guy if you're far away.
Posted 5 years ago by DAnny L.
Food arrived totally cold. I ordered chicken fingers. They arrived cold and soggy and dripping in honey mustard sauce because the sauce had opened up in the bag. The chicken fingers must have been soaking in them for an hour because when they got here everything was cold, soggy, wet and tasted like nothing but honey mustard. Gross. Will not be ordering again.

I ordered the three fresh eggs any style with bacon. The eggs were supposed to be over medium, but they were very runny. The food was just warm when it got here, and the bacon wasn't crispy. I enjoyed the iced tea though, because it was freshly brewed despite being for delivery.

So disappointed with my order and service. Being sick, I ordered 2 QUARTS of "chicken soup" to last the duration of my sickness. The delivery was timely, sure, but when I went to portion out some soup for myself, there was no chicken, vegetables, or noodles. Just broth and matzoh balls. I called the deli, dismayed at having received the wrong delivery, only to be informed that I was mistaken and that the broth and matzoh before me was in fact their version of chicken soup. Where's the chicken? I asked. It's chicken broth. well thanks, sarge, i got that much. Without any sort of apology for the confusion, the offended deli representative told me that this was how they'd been making chicken soup for 50 years and how they would continue to do so.
That's fair. Carry on. Just please make a note on your menu that your chicken soup does not actually have any chicken in it. And be nice to your customers.
Posted 6 years ago by julia b.
It took over an hour to get my food, which was cold when it arrived. Sarge's is at 36th and 3rd, but for some reason has chosen to offer deliver to the Upper West Side. Though I appreciate wanting to offer a wide delivery area, many customers will not realize how far their food will have to travel, which will lead to long waiting times and cold food.
Posted 6 years ago by Josh Y.
Think twice about ordering from Sarge's because their delivery will take twice as long as the listing indicates. And when we called to ask about the whereabouts of our order, they were full of excuses. ("Just wait fifteen minutes more...") Sarge's really needs to rethink its delivery zone and estimated delivery time, because it's bordering on fraud. Hopefully, SeamlessWeb will make them change these falsities on their website. Sarge's food is not worth the wait.

After 1 hour and 45 minutes (twice as long as quoted), my food is still not here despite multiple calls to the restaurant and multiple assurances it was "on the way." This restaurant delivers to a wide swath of the city, beware if you don't live close by. Just called again: excuses, excuses, excuses...
Posted 6 years ago by James U.
took over an hour :( and then the bread was all soggy, they included one small delicious mustard for two sixteen-dollar sandwiches, the onion rings were completely soggy, was hoping to treat my out-of-town guests to a fabulous deli sandwich and was embarrassed and disappointed. cant recommend it.

Incredible food, with sandwiches beyond belief. Worth every penny!

They should get no stars! I ordered on Sunday morning at 830 am. There is no traffic at this time of morning. At an hour and forty minutes I still have not received my food. They supposed left 30 minutes ago. It doesn't take that long to get here. So now I'm going to get cold eggs. When I called they made up some excuse about a freight elevator. But as you can see from others people comments they are consistently late with horrible service. If you expect warm food, or good service don't order from here. Seamless web, you should take them off the service because they don;t deliver what they promise!

Ordered from this place one night and waited for about two hours for my food. When I called the first time, they said it was on its way and would be here "momentarily." 20 minutes later, when I called back, they said they didn't have my order for the first 5 minutes until they "found" it, and said it was leaving and would, once again, be here "momentarily." When it finally got here, the order was wrong and all the food was cold. Don't waste your time here; theres plenty of other diners that are much better and friendlier

So much food! Expensive, but totally worth it!
Posted 6 years ago by Jenny H.
I ordered the meal and waited 80 minutes for it to be delivered. It would not have been a problem if the food was actually hot. It wasn't, and their french fries were disgusting lukewarm. I will not order from Sarge's Delicatessen again.

Delivery took an hour and a half on Saturday afternoon. If you are hungry, order from somewhere else.

Always delicious, a little on he expensive side, but their exquisite matzoh ball soup and generous servings are well worth it.

ordered extra thick shake, basically light drinking plain milk....they put extra thick so they can charge more, but really is a waste..
dont put messages in because they do not read!!
Prob better off not ordering if you live farther than a block away

Ordered and food never came. Cancelled after 2 hours. They claimed the delivery man was stuck in traffic. Completely unacceptable.

Took more than 2 hours on a Friday night.
Posted 6 years ago by Christopher Z.
Horrible; 65 minutes after I received my confirmation that they had my order they called and said "their driver was stuck" and that they could recook my order and send it at that point. I of course said "no" and told them to reverse the credit card charges.

True to delivery time, which was 50-65 mins during dinner hours.
Potato pancake was best I've ever had.
Matzo ball soup was lame. Chicken-flavored water and a matzo ball - no celery, onion, carrot....

French Fries are better than great -- fabulous!! Barbecued ribs nice and juicy, but maybe a little fatty. Good bbq sauce and great pickles.
Posted 6 years ago by Alyce C.
The quart of old fashioned chicken soup does not actually contain any chicken. I asked them to include noodles in the chicken soup, and all I received was noodles and broth. Besides that, the food is good but it is very overpriced. I mean who wants to pay $13 for broth and noodles. Where's the chicken?????? Would not order from here again.
Posted 6 years ago by Marc N.
Food is great but the staff is rude and lies about order changes. Would not order again based on their attitude.
Posted 6 years ago by Rafael M.
Excellent!!!! The food is great and delivery was on time and great!
Posted 6 years ago by Jason G.
I recently ordered "Old Fashioned Chicken Soup" from Sarge's assuming it would be some form of chicken noodle soup. What arrived was a quart of terrible tasting chicken broth with nothing in it. I called to complain about this only to be informed that Sarge's "doesn't put chicken or vegetables in their chicken soup and you are expected to order the noodles separately if you want noodles in your soup." The service was horrible and the food even worse. I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant.

Pastrami sandwich was very fatty. Seems like they forgot to trim it. For 15$- it should be perfect
Posted 6 years ago by Michael B.
I put one star only because you are required to put one. I ended up cancelling the order after waiting 2 hours for my order on a Friday afternoon. Seriously? Restaurant kept promising it was one its way, who wants eggs that were cooked only knows how how ago? Oh, and the woman on the phone was VERY rude.
Posted 6 years ago by Nicole K.
The service is terrible. I waited over 1.5 hours for delivery of a sandwich. When I tried calling them, they were extremely rude.
Posted 6 years ago by Charlotte L.
Burgers were great. Delivery was right within the time the website said.
Posted 6 years ago by Syeda N.
WORST experience ever. They should not offer delivery anywhere above 30th street b/c it takes forever to get the food and then its completely inedible. Doesn't even resemble food. Ridiculous. Worst choice.
Posted 6 years ago by Abby L.
Took 90 minutes to get here and I got a roast beef sandwich instead of the Turkey I ordered. Very dissapointed
Posted 6 years ago by Sven K.
Not as Good as Katz's, dry pastrami, machine cut, should melt in mouth but instead fat stuck in teeth.
Posted 6 years ago by Robin F.
Seamlessweb needs to post the cross streets on this place. I am at 95th, ordered very late night, didn't realize the place was at 33rd STREET! I am already dreading the 2 hour delivery time and I already want to go to bed but don't want to waste money on this order. FML!

Probably the worst place to order from on this website. Delivery takes FOREVER. And the description of "Traditional Jewish deli," when they serve bacon cheeseburgers is about as accurate as their food is good.

takes two hours to get food from this place

Great Ruben sandwich!

Very good for brunch. I ordered the eggs benedict with home fries. The home fries were done perfectly, not too burnt, but not too mushy. The muffin was good. I gave it a 10 sec heat up in the microwave and spread some butter on it and it was delicious. I would def order from here again. The reason I gave this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because it seems unbelievable to be that delivery takes an hour for poached eggs and a muffin. I know that they advertise the wait time to be 50-65 min but I still think that is unreasonable. Otherwise, good food.

The sandwiches are awesome, especially the turkey which tastes like Thanksgiving leftovers. However, STAY AWAY from the ribs, they are not BBQ and are disgusting! BBQ sauce should not be bright pink

Authentic New York Jewish deli food. I've ordered from them several times and will definitely order again. Great burgers, fries, chicken liver, pastrami, and, of course, pickles.
Posted 6 years ago by Zaur I.
Food is good but delivery was late - 1-1/2 hrs instead of the promised 30-45 min. Also the two extra pieces of bread I ordered were not included.

I go to Sarge's at least 3 times a week for breakfast and/or lunch and it is simply the best diner/deli in NYC, hands down. The corned beef & tongue sandwich is the best sandwich I've ever had and the corned beef hash & eggs breakfast is just plain awesome.

Posted 6 years ago by john w.
I ordered at 11 it came at 1 (estimated time said 20-30 minutes); I had already passed out, but just took the order, which ended up being undercooked, cold, and just not very good. Needless to say, I won't be ordering from here again.

over an hour to get my food...crazy!!
Posted 6 years ago by Anna P.
Will not order from here again.
Delivery literally took over 2 hours for a very basic order (omelette + drinks). I called three times, each time I was told the order was already out for delivery. Food arrived totally cold, drinks spilled in the bag, with no apology for the 2 hour wait. It was just ridiculous, will not be ordering from here again.

Better than 2nd Ave deli. The pies & cakes are incredible- our out of town guests always rave about them.
Posted 6 years ago by John A.
I like the food at Sarge's, though for my last few orders they have exceed the far end of the delivery range by as much as 20-minutes (= a deliver time exceeding an hour) and the food arrives cold. I believe that they wait until they have multiple orders to deliver and then set up some form of queue. I generally don't mind waiting for an order, as long as the food is delivered hot. Cold food and a lengthy delay is what I call a double negative. It is highly unlikely that I will be ordering from Sarge's for delivery again, despite the great corned beef.

The turkey burger and grilled onions and mushrooms were cooked really well. The mushroom-barley soup was superb as always. The one down note was the onion rings, which were a bit too oily.

got pastrami sandwich (yum) and the knockwurst (pan fried on a hot dog roll). overall pretty good food, but the delivery took an hour and a half.. granted i am 20 blocks away!

I ordered a pizza burger well done from Sarge's @ 12:36 am on 12/22/2009. The burger arrived an hour later and it was rare to medium-rare (completely red and uncooked in the center). When I called them back they didn't even offer to send me another one, I had to ask. And then the manager even called back to tell me that the cook told him that it was well done and that they wouldn't be sending the french fries again, just the hamburger. After another hour, and after me having to call them back again to see what was taking so long, the burger arrived. It was well-done this time, but ice-cold as were ther french fries that preceded it by an hour. How a restaurant like this stays in business is beyond me, but I will never order from them again.

the food came late, it was cold and had very little flavor. I got eggs Benedict - the ham seemed to be of a lower grade, it was tough and as though it had strings through it. the ggs were poached just perfectly, but there was no taste, and the hollandaise sauce was missing. I had to keep adding salt and pepper. I got borscht another day and it came completely cold, which is not the way I have had it served before. the potatoes were also undercooked...

Great food. Agreed with others that the delivery was a bit over an hour, not 25-40mins.

Ordered just the Potato pancakes... they were exactly what i was looking for. They tasted great. Will order again when the craving hits. (Only qualm- delivery guy had no cell phone and needed to rely on a very unhappy security guard to call up to me so I could come down to get my meal).

This deli has really gone down hill. My hamburger bun was smaller than a mcdonalds kids burger. Save your money.
Posted 7 years ago by Brian P.
terrible. omelette had eggshells in it. also, they replaced one of the pastry items i ordered with one of lesser value without calling, etc. to let me know they were out of what i ordered (assuming they didn't just get the order wrong).
twice, entire coffee spilled in bag. delivery person and restaurant did not care

While the food is decent, this is the second time in a row that an order from Sarge's (for a single turkey sandwich) has taken more than an hour to arrive. Both times I've called after 45+ minutes and was informed, "Oh, it's leaving right now", only to have to call back and inquire again another 20+ minutes later as to why my turkey on rye had been backburnered. I imagine the team of in-house researchers who study the nuances of the turkey sandwich and recommend experimental approaches for its construction and transportation was otherwise occupied. Completely unacceptable. At the very least the estimated delivery time should be doubled from the 15-30 minutes listed on SW (maybe tripled just to be safe).
Posted 7 years ago by Seth P.
I will never order from this place again. The delivery time was well over an hour, when on the description it promised 15-30 minutes. The food was cold when I got it and looked as if the meat was thrown in a plastic tupperware. It was quite disappointing, especially since eating in the restaurant was a great experience.

Terrible service, terrible price!!!
For $12.00 plus additional $0.75 for the large roll, I got a Roast Beef Sandwich on the Kaiser roll and two pickles. When I called them and asked where my order with the large roll, I got the answer that it is a large roll, and here is New York. If I don't like, I can find a cheaper price somewhere else!

Trust me - go with the roast beef on rye, lettuce, tomato, mustard - its a winner every time.

there are very few places out there that make a good overstuffed roast beef sandwhich. Sarges does it and doesn't charge you like katz's or Carnegie deli.

Never received order. They initially claimed that they had rain delays and my order was going out soon. They eventually claimed that they never received my order and didn't know who I was.

I've ordered from this place a number of times and have no complaints so far. They delivered on time, within 20-30 mins (of course, I only live a couple of blocks away), and the food has been great. Except fries - they seem to recycle their leftover fries.
Posted 9 years ago by Fatima H.
Mushroom barley soup was good. Cheese fries were horrendous and should not be made that way! Only reasonably priced with a discount.
Posted 9 years ago by Maria C.
Yummy. It may take over an hour to get the delivery in the middle of the night, but the wait is worth it.

I have been ordering from Sarge's at least twice a week ever since I found them about a year ago. Everything is top quality, fast delivery, and always delicious. You can't go wrong with Sarge's! And the Grilled Chicken Ceasar Salad Platter is the best I have ever had!

2 hours just for a sandwhich???? HORRIBLE
Posted 9 years ago by Pesner S.
Food is good - but don't count on it arriving anywhere NEAR what they say.
If you want food on time, this is NOT the place to get it from.
They are slow and disorganized.
Posted 9 years ago by Mark M.
If you want to have Sarge's, you should make sure you order the night before so you can get it when you are ready to eat. Its only the second time I have ever ordered from this place and the first time took 2 hours to get delivery. Since that was a football sunday afternoon, i gave them the benefit of the doubt. So I tried again and they beat their original delivery time by 5 minutes. I can't even rate the food because its like eating yesterday's leftovers by the time it gets here.
Posted 9 years ago by Arielle K.
Burgers were good, and took about 40 minutes to deliver. Would definitely order again from them.
Posted 9 years ago by Sergei R.
The food is decent but make sure you're ready to wait well over an hour for delivery. If you call the restaurant to inquire about your order, you'll get the standard response that delivery is on its way. There is an added annoyance of getting the call that your delivery has arrived only to wait in the lobby while delivery gets to you. I will not order from this vendor again.
